I was Development Director of Eureka! between 1984-1989.
Eureka! was the first children’s museum in the UK. It has been a significant contribution to the regeneration of Halifax.
I was responsible for:
- Defining and developing the concept of an interactive children’s centre (then a new concept in the UK)
- Taking the project to the Core Foundation to raise the first £5 million (subsequently extended to £7 million)
- Undertaking development appraisals for sites and buildings
- Developing the scheme design for the exhibition
- Creating the detailed exhibition database, including the exhibit transactions analysis
- Creating business, staffing and marketing plans
- Developing the Eureka! logo with Pentagram
- Forming the charity with SJ Berwin
