Profile

I am a social enterprise developer. My expertise goes across the cultural and development fields, with a special focus on museums.

Between 1980 and 2002, as either Director or Chief Executive, I ran, set up and developed a number of organisations; three museums, a five site museum service, a science centre and a children's museum. Past projects have included the first children's museum in the UK, Eureka!, the World of Glass in St Helens in the North West and the Stirling Prize winning Magna Science Adventure Centre in South Yorkshire, where I was the founding Director.

I have secured over £100 million for these projects.

I can help you with all stages of the project cycle, from initial ideas and project design, through to financing, construction and management. A hallmark of my approach is applying creative problem solving in the early stages, since research and experience tell me that projects succeed or fail depending on how they begin.

My focus during the funding and development of the £35 million Heartlands project in Cornwall has been on creating a new model for sustainable social enterprise.

You can employ me on short or long term contracts with rates negotiable depending on the length of the project.

Have a look around the site - there are many interesting projects to find out about - and a day's diagnosis is free.
